DEWDROPS
Born from raindrops as plants. Their mood, diet, and disposition depends on the environment they are born in. Their entire life revolves around the climate, how clean the water is, whether the land is dry or bountiful, and so on. Though all of them are classified as "dewdrops" many have been given nicknames from other critters based on their behaviour or appearance.
Name: Dondopom
Diet: Small Berries Habitat: Windy Forests & Dark Areas Region: Zephyr BIO: Their name comes from the sound they make as they lose their balance and roll over on their face, uttering a jingling "pom" before getting back up and rolling away with tears in their eyes. They have four eyes and four arms, but they never use their arms to walk, and only keep two eyes open while standing. When they roll, they open and close their eyes incredibly fast in order not to get dizzy and always get a clear view of their surroundings. |
Name: Dandalla
Diet: Water & Rotting Flesh Habitat: Humid and Rainy Environments Region: Sunshore & Mystique BIO: It likes to feel useful, so it often seeks out smaller creatures to shield from bad weather with its long petals, acting like a guiding umbrella. It follows them back to safety and runs back out in the rain in search of more creatures to help. When they sleep, their petals splay out over the grass, making it very easy for them to get stepped on. |
Name: Zorose
Diet: Small Branches Habitat: Flowery Fields & Forests Region: Any BIO: It's rather shy, so it curls up next to flowers in order to blend in and hide. Unfortunately, it has a rather sour odour, so it is almost immediately noticed by skilled predators. Fortunately, however, they tend to find areas where other creatures have a reduced sense of smell, making it that much easier for their scent not to be noticed. Their leaves can be used in multiple sauces and soups to spice up a dish, but not many chefs enjoy keeping them around because of their smell... |
Name: Lilidon
Diet: Rocks & Fish Habitat: Forests, Caves, & Cities Region: Symphonia BIO: It stores rainwater in its lashes and converts it to poison in order to scare off predators. It likes to jump rather than walk, and often makes dents in the soil as it is one of the heaviest dewdrops there is. When it wants to sleep, it pulls down its petals and wraps itself up like a cocoon, masking its scent and tricking predators into thinking it's nothing but a rock. As it does this, its lashes remain exposed in case it does get attacked, and can still manage to poison whatever touches it without being harmed. |
Name: Dedo
Diet: Withered Leaves Habitat: Lush Forests Region: Symphonia, Zephyr BIO: They love riding the wind, but often get spotted by predators when they do. Because of this, they fly in thick and narrow forests where it's harder to navigate for large creatures. They are very competitive and often race each other for sport and for fun. Dedos are harmless and can't do damage even if they accidentally crash into someone. Their petals are said to be so soft many species use them to stuff pillows. Since they're so small, a large quantity is needed to make a truly luxurious pillow. |
Name: Dando
Diet: Salt & Tears Habitat: Deserts & Dry Land Region: Val Destra BIO: It cries all the time. Because it was born in an incredibly hot climate, it sheds tears to keep itself hydrated. Many often bring Dandos water in hopes they will stop crying, but the poor things only cry louder with gratitude. They have a bad habit of crying even if they're hydrated, which spends extra energy. A scientist has tried to safeguard Dandos by providing them with a safe environment that allows them the freedom to rest. Alas, they still cry. Much research is still being put into making these little guys smile. |
Name: Lodos
Diet: Water & Dry Berries Habitat: Humid & Dry Region: Val Destra & Symphonia BIO: They have taught themselves how to cleanse toxic water in order to survive, so they make use of this skill to bring clean water back to those in need. They have 5 brains, but with entirely different personalities, so conflicts between them happen a lot. It's a bit of a hassle to get them coordinated, but once they set their minds to it, they can do anything! |
Name: Doremi / Fasola / Tido
Diet: Honey Habitat: Grassy Plains & Towns or Cities Region: Any BIO: These bells like to mimic sounds and play music to get other's attention. However, they also use their mimicry in the wild to sound intimidating in order to chase predators away. They love to entertain and dance, but lack good balance, so they often fall over when they try to do both at the same time. Because of this, many townsfolk gently tie them on strings to keep them from tipping over when they're moving. It's said that their music sounds a lot more jolly when they get to move and express themselves at the same time. They say these dewdrops come in 3 different categories: warm colors (light notes), cold colors (deep notes), and no colors (neutral notes). The sound produced by each one is said to be different. Therefore, they've named them (in ascending order) Doremi (low), Fasola (neutral) Tido (high). |
Name: Seadon
Diet: Plankton & Fish Habitat: Warm, Neutral Region: Zephyr, Symphonia, BIO: They live on shallow water-surfaces, drifting and eating small plankton. The more they eat, the more vibrant their leaves. It enjoys floating and eating (it sometimes steals food, too) until it falls asleep in the sunlight, and only wakes up to repeat the cycle. Because they look unnaturally bright and don't move a lot, many predators assume they are poisonous. In reality, their leaves are actually a diverse delicacy. |
Name: Dellion
Diet: Hard Water & Ice Habitat: Cold & Chilly Climates Region: Luxum, Mystique BIO: They enjoy crystalizing water and imbuing it with healing properties in order to sell it to travellers. In reality, all they're selling is just very, very clean water with no real protection against bad energy. Most creatures know this, but the Dellion's make unique and colorful jewellery regardless of its health benefits, so others entertain them and pay them for their craft. These mischievous creatures think themselves clever, and enjoy making a profit off of others for little to no effort on their part. |
Name: Pomchu
Diet: Bark Habitat: Flexible Region: Mystique & Vatra BIO: They like to hang from dead trees with no leaves. Their cheeks are rather sensitive to winds, so they frequently sneeze so hard their petals fall off. However, their petals have strong healing capabilities, and often end up rejuvenating the soil. Once the tree of their choice has been revived, they bounce to a different location. The name "pomchu" was given to them for their "pompom" look when their petals are in bloom, and "chu" for the sound they make when they sneeze. It is also the reason certain species say "pomchu!" when someone sneezes. It is said to be a sign of good things to come. |
Name: Doldododo
Diet: A variety of veggies Habitat: Dry & Warm Climate Region: Vatra & Symphonia BIO: The parent is named "Dol" while the children it carries are named "Do", who eventually fall off and become Dol's. As such, this dewdrop's name varies depending on how many children they carry. A Dol that carries 3 children are known as "Doldododo" while a Dol that carries one is known as a "Doldo". When their young become too heavy (fully grown) they fall off the branch and go to lead their own separate lives. They're a little impatient and clumsy, which often makes them tip over and fall backwards due to their carelessness. |
